IN-DEPTH REAL WORLD STRATEGIES

To Make Your Reality Of Parenting Teenagers a Little Easier.

Parenting teens during today’s climate can be overwhelming and sometimes stressful because you’re trying to help prepare them for the real world.  The reality of it all is that if you have a teenager, you have no idea what life is like for them living in a society where they have too much access to any and everything.  I help you understand the stressors that many teens face on a day to day so you can have a more productive approach that doesn’t end up being a war against the wills.  Once you identify the barriers, I help you reduce or remove them altogether, so you can spend more time enjoying the relationship instead of feeling like a prison ward on duty 24/7.

I understand you...

You’re probably frustrated that you always have to come across as the bad guy because you’re trying your hardest to protect them from harmful situations, but the truth of the matter is, you want to show them how to make informed decisions in any given situation.  When you seek to make all of their decisions for them, you cripple them from making them on their own, and it creates a level of co-dependency on someone else knowing more than them.

You want to be seen as a valuable source of support for your teen to safeguard them from looking for that level of support from others who may not have their best interest in mind.

Remember You Are Not Alone

It’s hard to assume that you know what they’re dealing with.  And when you approach your teen with assumptions, it often puts them on the defense.

Chances are you don’t understand, but the beauty is that you have a person before you who can help you gain a clear understanding of them and the world they’re trying to navigate.

You are likely walking a fine line of trying to be supportive but may come across as overbearing and your teen is resistant to your help because they are feeling crowded.  And the more they are pushing you away, the more you are trying to get a better grip on things.

I help you learn to understand your teen from a place of curiosity, which is very different from a place of trying to control them.  You want to be careful of making them who you want them to be.  Instead, you will be more beneficial to them when you help them become the best version of themselves.

Who This is For:

For parents who are willing to abandon all of the efforts that have proven to be unsuccessful to this point

Willing to learn and implement new strategies that will create a safe environment for your teen to be open and honest

When they trust you to deal with them without having to risk listening to another lecture about why something isn’t a good idea, they are likely to be more forthcoming with their concerns and questions.

Being open to something new creates a place of vulnerability that allows them to see you as someone they can relate to versus someone who only dictates to them what they should or shouldn’t be doing or thinking.

Relax, Relate and Re-define

RELAX
At this point, it’s time to relax the tight grip of control, and learn how to take your teen’s perspective in consideration to gain a better understanding of who they are as an individual.

RELATE
Once you create the space to understand your teen, this is the perfect opportunity to relate with them. It’s important for your teen to see you as a helpful resource instead of someone who makes them feel like there is always something wrong with them because of the constant ridicule or correction.

REDEFINE
Now that you have done the work to connect with your teen through relatable experiences, it is time to redefine the relationship as someone who will guide them instead of someone who only seeks to control them.

AFTER THIS JOURNEY

Your Teen Will Be Able To

trust you enough to come to you to share what is important to them without fear of judgment.  Once they know that you see them as an individual who is capable of having their own thoughts, they are likely to be open and honest with you about their concerns, questions, and desires, and you have a better opportunity to guide them to make informed decisions.

  • What is Parent Coaching?
Parent Coaching is a professional relationship that provides support and guidance to enable you to be the most effective parent for you and your family. I work with you to feel less stressed about parenting teens and become more relatable and supportive so your teen sees you as a source of support instead of someone they have to hide their innermost thoughts from.
  • What is the difference between Parent Coaching and Therapy?
Parent Coaching focuses on helping you develop the skills to become the parent you desire to be, while therapy focuses on working through specific issues in the family dynamic that may be causing mental health issues such as anxiety or depression.
  • What’s the difference between marriage counseling and relationship coaching?
Counseling focuses more on working to overcome issues within the relationship from the past, and to become less impacted from those issues to move forward to a healthier relationship. Coaching focuses on the goal of maintenance and improvement.. Couples and individuals will be able to develop new skills to help them enjoy fulfilling relationships.
  • Are sessions done virtually or in person?
    All sessions are done virtually
  • What if my partner isn’t interested in participating.
Ideally, you may find the value in both of you in your partner’s participation, but sometimes it’s difficult for individuals to be receptive to coaching when they see it as something to be “fixed.”. But if you are ready to begin coaching, you should consider beginning the coaching on your own, and your partner may be inspired to join after recognizing your positive results.
  • How do I know which coaching package I should select?
If you and your partner are seeking to strengthen your relationship, it is ideal to sign up for the couples package. Whether you are single or in a relationship, if you recognize that you can benefit from adding new tools to your toolbox to effectively communicate through challenging situations, then the individual package is for you. You will be able to improve your interactions with others.
  • What should we expect in the first session?
During the initial session, we will spend time getting an understanding of the coach and client relationship. You will be able to get to know me, and I will learn about you and the goals of your relationship. We will be able to begin new skills in the initial session.
  • What is Mindset Coaching?
Mindset Coaching helps you bridge the gap from where you are now to where you desire to be. Instead of being conflicted about where you are, Mindset Coaching enables you to gain clarity and insight on what you can do to achieve your goals.
  • Why do people work with a Mindset Coach?
People often desire to work with a mindset coach when they are not getting the results they want in life. Working with a mindset coach provides you the opportunity to review your previous efforts, and to develop a new plan to get the desirable results. I also help you discover your hindering thoughts, learn how to reframe it to something more productive that enables you to unlock your inhibitions to feel more confident about your ability to do what you need to do.
  • Will Mindset Coaching work for me?
Mindset Coaching will work for you if you are receptive to the process, honest about your concerns and desires, and you are committed to work required of you.
